Java vs php

Whats the comparison between java and php?
Well, it may sound rude, but its not fair to compare two legends of the current Software Industry.

Both are good languages and hold strengths of their own...
both support OOPS, both have frameworks, and both are highly used in the real world.

There are some key things to consider before comparing java and php.

1) All Java programs need the necessary libraries to compile. For example, while working with files, a java program needs to import the io libraries and for date, you need util package classes.
But php is a precompiled language (as the name suggests, it is Hypertext Preprocessor). You dont need to import anything for all standard functionalities in your file.

2) People working on Java are called Java programmers, as they would be mostly involved in writing their own code in the module and contributing to the project. They are assigned a module independently and they are much focused on that single module.
Whereas people working on php are called php or web developers as they would be developing several modules needed for the website, which may not be coded by themselves, but also borrowed from the vast developer community. They can be parallely assigned multiple modules at a time.

3) Most of the websites in the world today are developed with php and mysql is used as the backend. PHP is mostly used for simple to complex websites, but rarely for enterprise level apps, as java has a better scope.
Java is mostly used with Oracle as the backend and java is preferable for enterprise level applications, though it can also be used for simple web sites.

4) When it comes to security, most of the people chose java than php. Though there are some drawbacks with the coders writing raw code in php, the security can be tightened with the help of careful validations.

5) When a client looks for the less cost and fast completion of his project, he may go for php than java. Especially in these days of recession, many companies have started opting php.

A popular site using java is linkedin.com and one of the best php sites is facebook.com

Joomla validate chrono forms using jquery

It is a common practice to use Chrono forms in our joomla site to setup various forms in the site, be it a contact us form, submit a ticket form, or whatever. I have set the option "validate form" to "No" under chronoform settings in admin panel, and also preferred to not include any js or css files. For validating the chrono forms, i prefer jquery. So first lets add jquery support in our joomla. It is quite simple: 1. Download jquery.js and jquery_min.js (1.4.2 version is enough) and place them in media/system/js folder of your joomla. 2. Edit libraries->joomla->html->html->behavior.php, and add the following function below the mootools() function: function jQuery($debug = null)     {         static $loaded;         global $mainframe;         // Only load once         if ($loaded) {    ...

joomla remove category name in url

-) If anyone is using the lyftenbloggie component, and want to remove the component name and category title from the sef url, follow this hack: (Note: You also need to install the lyftenbloggie extension for ARTIO SEF) Under components/com_sef/joomsef.php, After this code: $location = array();         foreach ($title as $titlePart) {             if (strlen($titlePart) == 0) continue;             $location[] = JoomSEF::_titleToLocation($titlePart);         } Just add this code: if($location[0] == 'lyftenbloggie')         {         $temp_sef = end($location);         $location = array();            $location[] = $temp_sef;         ...

php get content between tags

This involves parsing the dom document. <?php function getTextBetweenTags($tag, $html) {     $dom = new domDocument;     @$dom->loadHTML($html);         $dom->preserveWhiteSpace = false;     $content = $dom->getElementsByTagname($tag);     $out = array();         foreach ($content as $item)     {         $out[] = $item->nodeValue;     }     return $out; } $xhtml = '<tag>abc def</tag><tag>123 456</tag>'; $content2 = getTextBetweenTags('tag', $xhtml); foreach( $content2 as $item ) {     echo $item.'<br />'; } ?> Output: abc def 123 456
